Rose Esson-Dawson is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in Ceramics. She has been a college professor for the past 13 years.

Ian Buchbinder has had his hands in clay since early childhood.  After trying the potter’s wheel in High School he decided to study Ceramics, Illustration, and Education at RISD, graduating in 2011 with a BFA in ceramics and in 2012 with a Master of Arts in Teaching.

Ian further developed his craft during an apprenticeship at Three Wheel Studio in Providence, RI.  In 2017 Ian opened his own studio under the name Coywolf Studio and began selling his work at craft fairs and trade shows as well as to galleries across the country.  Alongside his studio work, Ian has been teaching wheel throwing since 2009.  He is fascinated by process and repetition and seeks to understand and communicate the mechanics of wheel throwing as well as the spirit and joy of forming pots from clay.

Mary has loved working in clay since taking her first ceramics class in high school. She returned to the wheel 12 years ago taking classes at Mudstone. During her travels in her RV she continued to create functional wheel-thrown pottery at Indian River Clay in Vero Beach. Mary works primarily in colored stoneware on the wheel using the Neriage/Agateware technique and carving pieces to accentuate the colors used. Mary chooses colors that are inspired by the beauty of earth sky and water around her in her home studio on the Lees River in Swansea,MA. In addition to teaching at Mudstone Mary is an active member of The Greater Fall River Art Association and Southcoast Artists.

Ava Mascena is a Rhode Island-based Artist.  She received her BA in musical theatre performance from Rhode Island College in 2017, where she worked in the theater industry until March 2020. In November 2020, she took her first wheel-throwing class at Mudstone studios and has been hooked ever since. Today, Ava is a full-time teaching artist and ceramicist. She teaches ceramic classes in locations all over Rhode Island, including the Croft School, Bristol Parks and Rec and Mudstone Studios. Her work is inspired by nature and the magic of the world often overlooked. When she isn’t at the pottery studio (which is rare), Ava can often be found singing, with friends, playing games or baking.

 Vivian Whitcomb is a RISD graduate, and has been creating ceramic tableware from Mudstone Studios for the past ten years. She got her start in ceramics at Mudstone, taking classes for several years from Rose Essen-Dawson. Working primarily on the wheel, Vivian's work includes hand-built ware with a focus on surface design design, incorporating colored slips, underglaze transfers, silkscreen and sgrafitto.

Kristin Linder is a lifelong artist and has worked most of her life as a painter. She opened khlstudio, creating murals, portraits and fine decorative finishes for private residential clients, designers and hospitals. Between stints on the scaffold, she designed and implemented collaborative hands-on arts programs for fragile populations in residential schools, rehabs, hospitals and a maximum security facility. She is inspired by Dr. Judith Burton at Teachers College, Columbia. To better understand the clinical impact her programs were having, she returned to Teachers College to complete an MA in Arts Ed/Trauma, as well as two post-graduate certificates in Trauma-Informed Creative Arts Therapy. After falling in love with clay in grad school, she now uses her joy of creating with clay as an excuse to paint on her pottery. Her passion is sharing her love of art, clay and color with students of all ages. She has taught nursery school through senior citizens
