BEGINNERS ON THE WHEEL

Tuesdays, March 14-April 18 10 AM-1 PM
Learn the basics of making pottery on the wheel during this fun, 6-week class. Students will start with centering and forming simple shapes on the wheel and continue through trimming and glazing. Students can expect to bring home 7-10 finished pieces

FLORAL COILED PLATES

Saturdays, Mar 18 & 25, 1-4 PM
This class introduces students to hand-building methods to create plates with patterns using coils. Week 1 students will be shown how to roll and begin to lay out a floral pattern with coils, as well as ideas for filler in the remainder of the space. Week 2 students will be given instruction for glazing. Great for all skill levels.

FAMILY FRIENDLY COIL BOWL

March 14 & 21, 6-9 PM
Fun for the whole family! This introductory class is great for beginners. During Week 1, students will be shown how to roll coils. Ava will guide students on creating a pattern when laying down the coils to form the bowl. Week 2 students will be given instruction for glazing. Great for all skill levels, Ages 9 and up are welcome.

HANDBUILDING ORGANIC FORMS

Join us for a fun clay learning experience! Students will learn pinch forming, texturing techniques, & slab working to create lively sculptures inspired by nature. We will focus on 3 projects: a large leaf inspired platter, a tree-trunk container, a large free-standing tree.

SPRING FROGS RAKU

Sunday Apr 2, 12-5 PM
Come enjoy the fresh spring air with us at our outdoor Raku firing! Students will be given a frog sculpture to glaze, fire, & take home all in the same day! There will be 3 loads in the kiln, each of which takes about 45 min to fire, then 30 to reduce & cool. Students are welcome to stay during the downtime or leave to eat etc. and return later for their frogs!

FUNKY RAKU PLANT POTS

Firing: Sunday Apr 30, 12-5pm
Join us for a fun clay learning experience involving Raku. Students can expect to make 2-3 plant pots depending on their chosen size. Firing day is an optional event, but a very fun (outdoor) experience!

HANDBUILDING FUNCTIONAL AND ORNAMENTAL PIECES

This afternoon class is structured for making fun, hand-built pieces for your table or home. Students will be guided through new projects each week. This class is great for any skill level. Beginners welcome but Rose can add in some more advanced techniques for those with experience.

FUNKY TURTLES

Saturdays April 29-May 13 1-4 PM
Join us for a fun handbuilding class focused around making turtles! Students will be walked through the construction of the turtle week 1, and begin to assemble the pieces together. Week 2 Students will finish constructing the turtle, and have time to add fun details and textures to the shell to give the turtle personality! Week 3 we will glaze our turtles with stains and glazes.

WHEEL THROWING FOR BEGINNERS

This class is perfect timing for those who have daytime availability. Students will learn the basics of making pottery on the wheel. From centering the clay, to pulling up forms and trimming. Students will make several pieces and glaze them on the last week of class.

This 6 week course in wheel throwing will expand your level of expertise. Students will work on making more consistent shapes, adding handles and possibly lids, perhaps some closed forms. Ian will gauge where the class wants to take it and work with students in creating more refined works. At least one prior class on the wheel is required.

Come have fun with clay! Open for ages 9-12, students will be introduced to the wonderful medium of clay. Using various handbuilding techniques like coils, pinching, and slabs - students will make a variety of projects including animals, sculpture, bowls, and more.

THROWN AND ALTERED FORMS

Mondays, June 5 -July 10, 6-9 PM
During this 6-week class, students will learn to dart, scallop, split, push, pull and transform your symmetrical, wheel-thrown pieces into more interesting and diverse forms. Rose will show you how to use the studio tools to make alterations that inspire.
