Take your work to the next level during this 6-week intensive class. Students must have at least 2 classes completed and be able to make bowls and cups with handles already.

Students make snails using basic handbuilding methods. Students can expect to learn how to give gesture and liveliness to their creatures. Great for beginners or intermediates.

POTTERY FOR BEGINNERS

Learn to make pottery on the wheel during this 6-week course. From centering, to forming, trimming and glazing, students can expect to complete several small pieces.

OCEAN BOWLS
with Gill Travers
Wednesdays, August 24 & 31, 6-9 PM
This class introduces students to handbuilding methods to applique and decorate handbuilt pottery to give it uniqueness. Students will be given a pre-made bowl & then instruction into how to make small mollusks, barnacles, starfish & other aquatic life to personalize their bowls in week 1. Week 2 students will be given instruction for glazing. Great for beginners.

MAKING MUGS
with Ian Buchbinder
Thursday evenings, Sept 1- Oct 6, 6-9PM
There's a lot to consider when making a good mug. What kind of handle? How much should it hold? Tall? Short? During this 6 week class with Ian, students will learn a lot and develop their own style of mug. Students need at least one class under their belt and need to be competent at centering, but beginner level students can do this if they can center.Students can expect to complete 10 mugs more or less.

FUNKY VASES
With Gill Travers
Wednesdays, Sept 7-21, 6-9 PM
In this class students will learn construction techniques using slabs and coils to make 1-2 large vase forms. Students will be shown a variety of ways to mark, texture, and sculpt onto these forms to create charismatic & playful vases. Week 3 students will be shown how to glaze them. Great for beginners or intermediates.

FLORAL COIL PLATES
with Gill Travers
Tuesday, September 13 & 20, 6-9 PM
This class introduces students to handbuilding methods to create plates with patterns using coils. Week 1 students will be shown how to roll and begin to lay out a floral pattern with coils, as well as ideas for filler in the remainder of the space. Week 2 students will be given instruction for glazing. Great for beginners or intermediates.

TYE-DYE BOWLS
with Gill Travers
Tuesdays, Sept. 27-Oct. 4, 6-9 PM
This class introduces students to slip decoration that gives the overall appearance of a rainbow tye-dye using colored slip. Students will use pre-made bowls to apply texture or surface decorations to personalize them. Students will be shown how to apply the slip when done. Week 2 students will be shown how to glaze them. Great for beginners or intermediates.

JACK O' LANTERNS
with Gill Travers
Wednesdays, Sept. 28-Oct 12, 6-9 PM
Celebrate Halloween season by creating a jack o’ lantern that won’t rot! Week 1 & 2 students will be instructed on how to create an 8" sphere to morph and create ridges to look like real pumpkins. Then we will attach a stem & carve a face or other imagery, just like a real jack o’ lantern. Week 3 students will be given instruction in glazing their work.

BEGINNERS ON THE WHEEL

Fridays, Sept. 30-Nov. 4, 10 AM-1 PM
Learn to make pottery using the wheel during this 6-week class. No need for experience, that's what this class is for! Vivian will walk you through all you need to know to start making pottery.

At Mudstone Studios, our artist instructors create a well rounded experience for students of all levels. Take a beginner class in hand-building or pottery making with Hannah Powers or Ellen Blomgren. Learn the basics or take your skill to the next level with Ian Buchbinder or Rose Esson-Dawson. Get really technical with Gill Travers or Wayne Fuerst. Enjoy a variety of visiting artists from the region when we offer intensive workshops.
