GOBLETS, TUMBLERS, AND MUGS

with Brittany Dias
Sundays, June 4- July 9, 11 AM- 2 PM

Students will be introduced to wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques, creating different drinking vessels. Various techniques will be demonstrated and students will explore different surface decorative techniques such as slip trailing, additive/subtractive texture and sgraffitto.

RAKU PLANT POTS

Mondays, June 5 - 19, 6-9 PM

Firing: Monday June 26, 6 PM

Join us for a fun clay learning experience involving Raku firing! Students create their own plant pots using pinch pots or slabs. We will explore techniques for creating tall, rounded, and geometric plant pots in the first 2 weeks. Week 3 students will learn how to paint and use Raku glazes for their desired special effects. Week 4 is firing day; it is an optional due to its earlier time and date. It will be over roughly 7 or 8 pm, and students can take their work home that day! Great for beginners & intermediates.

HANDBUILDING BASICS

with Gill Travers

6 weeks, Mondays July 10 - August 14, 6-9 PM

This class is a great fit for anyone who wants an introduction to using clay off the wheel. We will focus on projects that use pinching, slabs, molds, and coils to establish a foundation of useful clay skills. The goal of the class is to make students proficient and comfortable in using clay and glazing work made through hand forming methods.

BY WHEEL AND BY HAND

with Brittany Dias

Sundays, July 16-Aug 20, 11 AM-2 PM

Learn the basics of making pottery on the wheel as well as some hand-building skills during this informative, 6-week class. Brittany will take students through centering and forming functional pieces on the wheel but will also include some table time in embellishing and building on these basic forms using rolled slab, pinch formed and texture stamps designed and created by you.

SUMMER VASES + LUMINARIES

with Gill Travers

Wednesdays July 12 & 19, 6-9 PM

Want to try pressing your favorite leaves and flowers into clay? Join us to learn how to make simple vases and luminaries using handbuilding that feature pressed flora. Students are encouraged to bring their own leaves and flowers to press onto their forms. We will be able to make 1-2 medium or 1 large vase/luminary that will be completely functional! Week 2 students will glaze with the colors of their choice.

INTRODUCTION TO POTTERY

Open to beginner level students. Learn to make pottery using a potter's wheel during this fun, 6 week class.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL POTTERY

For students with some previous experience. Students will further explore their thrown forms with adding handles or lids etc.

SLIP DECORATED CUPS

with Gill Travers

2 weeks, Wednesdays July 26 & Aug 2, 6-9 PM

A great class for beginners to make 1-2 cups with liquid clay, known as slip. Students will be shown how to make up to 2 cups using pinch pots and coils. We will then add feet and handles, and decorate using our colored slips. Week 2 students will be shown how to glaze the cups.
