*Must use cone 10 clay body and have work bisque-fired before September 12. *Participants must wear natural fiber to the firing, long sleeves, long pants, toes covered. Cotton, wool, hemp, leather, canvas or linnen, nothing that melts at high temperatures.
Sept. 12: Glaze. 3-4 somple color clazes will be offered. 12:30-3:30
Sept. 13: kiln loading, wadding of work... All works need to be laid out on tables by 10:am. Loading from 10:am-2:pm
Sept 15: firing. Sign up for shifts 7:am until 2-5:am 9/16. Wear natural fibers. Bring some food to share.
Sept 22: unload kiln and clean up shelves.. 10:am-2:pm

Learn to create fun animal sculptures with Ellen Blomgren during this exciting workshop. Ellen will show you some hand-building techniques for building and surface textures. There will be some focus on gesture and personality. Week 2 will be for glazing these adorable creatures. Students can expect to complete 1-2 creatures.

Intro Wheel Throwing (ages 12 and up) with Hannah Powers
This very informative class for beginners (ages 12 and up) is led by Hannah Powers. Hannah will guide students in learning to use the potter's wheel to create functional pieces of art. Learn the processes of making pottery, from centering, to forming shapes, to trimming and glazing. Students can expect to complete several pieces during this informative, 6-week session.

This very informative class for intermediate level students (having at least one class under their belt) is led by RISD grad, Ian Buchbinder. How to Create a Bust with Ellen Blomgren
Using the wheel, a slab roller and some hand-building techniques, Ellen will show you first how to create the structure to build from and then some refining techniques. Students can expect to complete one sculpted bust about 12"-14" tall. Bring pictures of your subject!
